MINNEAPOLIS – September 21, 2017 – Winthrop & Weinstine, P.A., is pleased to announce that shareholder and firm Board member David Aafedt has been elected as Chair of the Health Law Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association. David is the immediate past Vice Chair of the Section, and has been a member of the Executive Council since 2011, also holding positions as Treasurer and Secretary.

David co-leads Winthrop & Weinstine’s Health Care Practice Group, which represents health care organizations of all types and sizes – from sole practitioner start-ups to multi-location specialty practice groups with 500+ employees. Its clients include a wide range of providers, including hospitals and clinics, physician groups, nursing homes, chemical dependency and behavioral health treatment facilities, home health care organizations and systems, dentists, specialists, and pharmacists, as well as other health professionals and trade associations.

The team also represents technology firms, medical device manufacturers, and pharmaceutical and life sciences companies on general business, regulatory compliance and liability issues, as well as all aspects of intellectual property. In addition, the firm has extensive experience representing dentists, nurses, specialists and other licensed professionals before Minnesota’s licensing boards and regulatory agencies, as well as defending third-party payer audits and litigating complex issues.

Prior to joining Winthrop & Weinstine in 2003, David served as an Assistant Attorney General with the Minnesota Attorney General’s office. His practice at the firm now mirrors his practice while at the Attorney General’s Office. He uses his extensive experience to advocate on behalf of his clients in a wide range of settings in all 50 states, including state and federal regulatory matters, business and consumer litigation, as well as state and federal audits, investigations, and market conduct examinations.
