MINNEAPOLIS, November 29, 2016 — Winthrop & Weinstine, P.A., is pleased to announce that its Affordable Housing team of shareholders Jeff Koerselman, John Nolde and John Stern have been selected “Attorneys of the Year” by Minnesota Lawyer, for their remarkable work in facilitating the development or rehabilitation of affordable housing, in a time when availability is reaching near crisis lows.

In the last year, this group has represented for-profit and non-profit developers, investors, lenders, housing authorities, cities and builders, and have played a substantial role in bringing impressive affordable, homeless/transitional, multi-family, senior and homeless veteran housing projects to fruition. In 2015/2016 alone, the team completed more than 50 affordable housing transactions, which created more than 7160 housing units and totaled more than $1 billion in development costs.

“The facilitation for development of affordable housing in Minnesota and nationwide is vital, complex, often unseen work,” said Todd Urness, chair of Winthrop & Weinstine’s Real Estate practice. “Jeff Koerselman, John Nolde and John Stern are beyond deserving of this honor for their countless hours devoted to making housing available to some of our neediest communities.”

The team and other honorees will be celebrated February 16, 2017 during a special awards event at The Hyatt Regency in downtown Minneapolis.
