Winthrop & Weinstine, P.A.,
legislative and regulatory attorney John A. Knapp is quoted in a Dec. 2010
Pioneer Press article. The article, “Lobbyists adapting to power flip in Minnesota Legislature, governor’s office,” discusses how a shift in Minnesota politics is changing the lobbyist landscape. With the Republicans in control of both the legislative and executive branches, some insiders are noticing that lobbying firms are scrambling to find GOP lobbyists (Salisbury). Members from Tim Pawlenty’s administration have moved into the private sector, including former Management and Budget Commissioner
Tom Hanson, who has joined Winthrop & Weinstine to practice with Knapp’s group. Knapp, who was recruiting Hanson before the election, said, “When I started talking to Tom, I never suspected that Republicans would take control of both houses” (qtd. in Salisbury).
