Winthrop & Weinstine Attorney Thomas H. Boyd Receives Judge Donald P. Lay Award Of Special Merit
Winthrop & Weinstine, P.A., is pleased to announce that shareholder Thomas H. Boyd has received the Judge Donald P. Lay Award of Special Merit. The award was in recognition of Boyd's work in documenting the history of the federal courts in the Eighth Circuit, which includes Minnesota, Arkansas, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
The award is named for the late Honorable Donald P. Lay, who served on the federal appellate bench with great distinction for more than forty years. Boyd clerked for Judge Lay when he was Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. The award was presented by Judge Lay's former colleagues on the Eighth Circuit, the Honorable Myron H. Bright and the Honorable Michael J. Melloy, at the Eighth Circuit Judicial Conference in Chicago.
Boyd currently serves as the President of the Eighth Circuit Bar Association and is former president of the Historical Society of the United States Courts in the Eighth Circuit.
