The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (“HITECH”) is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (“ARRA”) or commonly known as the Stimulus Bill of 2009. HITECH expands the duties of both dentists and any of their business associates under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (“HIPAA”).
