I always suggest meeting my clients at their places of business not just for the clients’ convenience, but because it’s part of my job to learn what they do and how they do it. I believe legal work should be about the client, not the lawyer.

Experience
In the more than 25 years Jeffrey R. Ansel has practiced law, he’s witnessed at least two cycles of economic boom and bust, which gives him an extra depth of perspective in the areas of real estate law, construction law and commercial litigation. Jeff is known for maintaining strong relationships with his clients and evolving his practice to fit their needs. As a shareholder at Winthrop & Weinstine, P.A., he brings together the right team for each client and maintains client relationships that span decades.

Clients who work with Jeff know he’s always available on the other end of the phone with an answer to their questions about issues, including creditors’ remedies litigation, distribution law, construction litigation, shareholder disputes, securities fraud and insurance litigation. In addition to managing large cases in litigation, Jeff frequently supports his clients with alternative dispute resolution (ADR). He is listed as a Qualified Neutral for the Minnesota Supreme Court and is a U.S. Arbitration and Mediation Neutral Panelist.

Jeff has developed a niche practice in the area of receiverships and regularly lectures at continuing legal education seminars on the topic. Representing clients who are court –appointed receivers as well as clients who seek the appointment of a receiver has given Jeff a multi-dimensional view of how receiverships can be used strategically to maximize value in real estate and non-real estate cases. He also represents title insurance companies in title disputes and coverage litigation as well as agency, regulatory and administrative matters.

Jeff’s clients include a paint manufacturer, title insurance companies, construction and real estate firms, management and turn-around companies, real property investors, developers and management firms, banks and financial institutions, and entertainment distribution companies.

In addition to serving client needs at the firm, Jeff is among a group of attorneys serving on an ad hoc advisory committee focused on developing a new model for Minnesota’s receivership laws. Jeff volunteers as a speaker on the topic of law careers at area high schools, serves as a Hennepin County Conciliation Court Judge, and volunteers for the Ramsey and Hennepin County Bar Associations as a legal fee dispute arbitrator. Since 1995, Jeff has served on various management committees for Winthrop & Weinstine, P.A., including since 2000 its board of directors.
