Experience
John is a shareholder with Winthrop & Weinstine, P.A., and is experienced in legislative and regulatory representation, as well as public utility, environmental, insurance and general corporate law. He began his legal career with the Minnesota Legislature serving from 1974 to 1976 as an Assistant Revisor of Statutes. Since entering private practice, he has represented clients before federal, state and local legislative and regulatory bodies and has represented clients at the Minnesota Legislature in every legislative session since 1977. John's specific areas of experience and expertise include:

  • Legislative representation, including strategy development, drafting, communications and advocacy
  • Administrative law, including representation of clients before the Department of Commerce, Pollution Control Agency, Public Utilities Commission and other regulatory agencies
  • Insurance and financial services law
  • Ethics, campaign finance and election law
