John Reich is a
member of the Legislative and Regulatory Practice Group, where he represents
the firm’s clients at the Minnesota Legislature and before state and local
regulatory agencies. He has extensive lobbying experience, and manages strategy
and advises on legislative and political matters, including committee hearings,
formal communication and legislation.
Prior to joining the
firm, John served as staff in both the Minnesota Legislature and Gov. Mark Dayton's
administration. Most recently, he served as the Public Relations Officer and the
Director of Government Relations for MNsure, the state health insurance
marketplace. In these roles, John managed media communications, legislation
relations, and stakeholder engagement during the implementation of historic health
care reform in Minnesota. John was the lead lobbyist during the passage of
legislation authorizing a state-based marketplace and was involved in the
passage of Affordable Care Act conformity legislation. During the implementation
of MNsure, John served as one of the designated spokespeople at MNsure and was
quoted extensively by the press.
Prior to his service at MNsure, John led the Government
Affairs Department at the Minnesota Department of Commerce. He and his staff
monitored, influenced, and testified as needed on all legislative matters
related to the Department’s regulatory jurisdiction including insurance,
financial institutions, energy, telecommunications, and other regulatory matters.
John also worked extensively with the Department’s communications staff on
John also spent five
years on staff at the Minnesota House of Representative, including three years as
the Committee Administrator for the House Commerce and Labor Committee. He can
provide strategic advice on legislative and operational matters related to
health care, insurance, liquor, lottery, energy, telecommunications, and
banking, among others.
