John D. Nolde joined Winthrop & Weinstine, P.A., in 2000 and is a shareholder with the firm.  He  practices in real estate and corporate law, with extensive experience in the areas of low-income housing tax credits and tax-exempt bonds financings. He represents both developers and equity investors, and served as lead developer’s counsel on the recent Pillsbury A-Mill and Schmidt Brewery historic rehabilitation projects.  Prior to joining Winthrop & Weinstine, John worked in the office of Minnesota Governor Arnie Carlson and with the Minnesota Department of Commerce.

John practices primarily in the areas of real estate and corporate finance, with an emphasis in multifamily housing development and finance.  He serves as counsel to numerous real estate owners, developers and tax credit investors.  John advises clients on a number of complex development and finance-related issues, including the use of tax-exempt bonds; tax increment financing; tax credits; city, county and other governmental subsidies; and acquisition and disposition of partnership interests.  He has specific and substantial expertise in multifamily housing development and finance, including the development and financing of rental and for-sale housing, as well as commercial and mixed-use facilities and restructuring troubled low-income housing projects.  John has extensive experience formulating and operating common interest communities and assembling title encumbrances.  He has experience in all aspects of real estate development, from land acquisition and assembly, joint venture relationships, construction, and mezzanine and permanent financing matters, as well as the negotiation, documentation and monetization of subsidies such as tax increment financing and tax credits.
