Kristopher (Tip) Lee practices in the areas of Commercial Lending and Creditors’ Remedies & Bankruptcy. He works with a variety of lending institutions, including community, regional and national banks, hedge funds, and private equity funds. He assists clients in structuring, negotiating and documenting a range of financing transactions, including real estate, construction, and general commercial and industrial transactions. He also has extensive experience representing financial institutions with debt workouts, debt restructurings, foreclosures, and collections on the “back end” of deals, giving him a unique ability to guide lenders on the “front-end” of deals to ensure they are properly secured and perfected in collateral in the event of a loan default.

He has also worked on several cases heard by the Minnesota Court of Appeals and the Minnesota Supreme Court, including a challenge to Minnesota’s proposed ballot question regarding voter identification. Prior to joining the firm, Tip clerked for the Honorable Kevin G. Ross at the Minnesota Court of Appeals.

A graduate of William Mitchell College of Law, he maintains a strong connection with the school, serving as a mentor for current students and an alumni ambassador for prospective students. He received his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from St. Olaf College, and taught at the University of Wenzhou in China before attending law school. He has presented at the Minnesota CLE Center regarding various lending and collection issues, including presentations on: “Creating, Perfecting and Enforcing Security Interests in Personal Property” and “Documenting a Commercial Lending Transaction.”  Tip has been recognized as a Minnesota Rising Star by Super Lawyers® since 2013.

Tip lives in Apple Valley with his wife and three children.
