I work closely with developers, lenders and investors in a range of tax credit and real estate matters, including developments involving Low Income Housing Tax Credits, federal and state Historic Tax Credits, New Markets Tax Credits, solar and other Energy Tax Credits, and various state industrial and rehabilitation tax credits around the country. My work has included general development work; negotiating and drafting development and financing documents with state governmental agencies and local municipalities; negotiating and drafting loan documents with construction lenders, permanent lenders, and tax credit bridge lenders; and negotiating and drafting tax credit syndication and investment documents. I also have extensive experience closing state tax credit investment and general tax credit bridge lending deals.
I enjoy working with clients to drive the deal; to push the transaction to closing by finding creative solutions to problems that arise. I focus on the real issues for my clients, and do not dwell on every tiny hiccup. I work closely with my clients and want them to think of me as a member of their team. I feel gratified knowing that the work we do together can result in affordable housing for those in need of it most, the complete rehabilitation and turnaround of distressed, abandoned buildings to make them useful again, or developing vacant land to its full potential.
Outside of the office, I spend most of my time with my wife chasing our little guy around in St. Paul and renovating and redeveloping historic residential and commercial rental property we own in northern Minnesota.
