When I was doing field research collecting data to assist Carver County and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency in making new rules for food waste composting site engineering, I testified at a contested hearing and recognized a disconnect between scientists and lawmakers, and I knew I could help fill that gap by pursuing a legal career.
Real Estate first become a part of my career as an environmental scientist and consultant working in brownfield redevelopment and Superfund remediation. As a real estate and environmental lawyer, I help developers, investors, and lenders capture the benefits of tax credit financing on solar energy, affordable housing, and historic rehabilitation transactions, while streamlining environmental matters.
Environmental implications transcend all areas of business. My goal is to help clients navigate the regulatory system in an efficient and cost effective manner to mitigate business and environmental risk, whether their needs are in real estate, corporate transactions, or other regulatory and administrative law, including Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA).
Outside of the office, I love anything outdoors – as a former prairie horticulturist, I love gardening, growing orchids, and anything and everything plants! I also enjoy hiking, and swimming, and going to concerts and sporting events with my significant other. In the winter months, I cross-country ski, travel, and never miss a Vikings game.
