Trademark attorney Stephen Baird was profiled in the Minnesota Lawyer article “Lawyer who started fight over ‘R-word’ mascot awaits decision.”  The article summarizes Baird’s involvement in the lawsuit against the Washington Redskins’ federal trademark protections.  Though his work on the case ended when he moved to Winthrop & Weinstine, a new group of plaintiffs has reprised the trademark challenge, using Baird’s original argument with even more evidence.  A federal judge in the Eastern District of Virginia will hear oral arguments next month, and then the case will likely go to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
