Health Law Institute: “As the Pendulum Swings: Collaborating to Curb Opioid Prescribing”

Health Law attorney David Aafedt is a co-presenter at the 2017 Health Law Institute on June 15, 2017, speaking in a session entitled, “As the Pendulum Swings: Collaborating to Curb Opioid Prescribing.”

This session will review the opioid prescribing crisis and discuss current prescribing standards. Presenters will examine how stakeholders in the health care delivery system – including practitioners, regulators, legislators and educators – are joining together in an effort to swing the pendulum to safer prescribing practices and better education for patients and providers. Resources and guidance documents will be provided. Topics will include: provider responses; regulatory boards’ tools to encourage best practice and address reluctant adapters; legislative response; and Prescription Monitoring Program updates.
