Matthew R. McBride, chair of Winthrop & Weinstine’s Recruiting Committee, was quoted in “Summer Associate Classes Hold Steady at Local Firms,” which appeared in Minnesota Lawyer on May 17, 2013. “We try to hire as much as possible out of our summer associate program as opposed to hiring young lateral attorneys,” he said. “We use it as a feeder system for our attorneys.”  He also added that “social activities play an important role for his firm’s summer associates. Activities at Winthrop & Weinstine include a wine tasting party, golfing and a Twins game, he said. ‘The goal is to get them [summer associates] assimilated into the law firm’s culture.’”
