PIAA Leadership Camp: Fundamentals of Board Governance in Highly Regulated Industries

Health Law attorney David Aafedt will speak at a PIAA Leadership Camp session entitled, “Fundamentals of Board Governance in Highly Regulated Industries” on May 17, 2017.

This session at the PIAA Leadership Camp will provide critical insights into the roles and fiduciary responsibilities of board members of insurance companies in the healthcare professional liability market. He will also discuss the parameters of the business judgement rule. At the conclusion of this session, participants will have gained an understanding of the fiduciary responsibilities of the board members of an insurance company conducting business in the U.S., in light of the fragmented state-by-state oversight of the insurance industry. They will also be able to identify the NAIC’s best practices for corporate governance and understand the permissible bounds of the business judgement rule within the context of board decision-making.
